Silver, by its very nature, will tarnish over time, and this process is completely normal. When not in use, it is recommended to store the pieces in their original box. In case of tarnishing, silver can easily regain its shine with standard silver cleaning solutions; however, strong chemical agents may leave stains on the concrete surface of the piece. For this reason, direct contact with concrete should be avoided.
In Merlon designs, concrete is used in its raw state, without any varnish or coating. Due to its porous structure, liquids can be absorbed into the surface and cause stains. Nevertheless, contact with water does not harm the concrete. During daily use, slight changes in tone may occur as it comes into contact with the skin; this is a natural result of concrete being a living material.
Wearing the pieces in the sea or pool will accelerate the tarnishing process of silver. However, each piece is carefully cleaned and prepared with protective solutions before shipping, which helps preserve the silver surface and extend the product’s lifespan.
